A delegation of the Bastar Goncha Mahaparv Organising Committee called on Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai at his official residence and invited him to attend Bastar Goncha Mahaparv-2026. Thanking the delegation, the Chief Minister extended his best wishes for the successful conduct of the festival and honoured its cultural tradition by firing the ceremonial Tupki as a symbolic salute to Lord Shri Jagannath.
The delegation extended gratitude to the Chief Minister for the decision to underground electricity cables in Jagdalpur, saying it has resolved power-related issues and removed obstacles to the smooth conduct of Lord Shri Jagannath’s Rath Yatra.
President of the 360 Ghar Aranyak Brahmin Society, Shri Ved Prakash Pandey, said the society is organising the historic Bastar Goncha Mahaparv from June 29 to July 25, 2026, continuing its 619-year-old tradition. The grand Rath Yatra of Lord Shri 1008 Jagannath Mahaprabhu will begin from Shri Jagannath Temple on July 16 and conclude at Sirhasar Bhavan (Janakpuri), where the deity will reside.
Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, MLA Shri Kiran Singh Deo, Organising Committee President Shri Muktesh Pandey and other committee members were present on ocassion.
