Singhitarai, Sakti, June 7: Reinforcing its commitment to women’s empowerment and inclusive community development, Vedanta Power Limited’s Sakti Thermal Plant is imparting Beauty & Wellness training to rural women under its flagship CSR initiative, Project Sakhi. The three-month programme is currently benefiting 30 women from Odekera Gram Panchayat, equipping them with market-oriented skills to enhance employability and promote self-reliance.

Implemented in partnership with the NGO SROUT, the training covers a wide range of professional beauty and wellness services, including hairstyling, makeup, hair spa, bleaching, threading, waxing, and basic salon management. Besides developing professional skills, the programme also aims to build confidence, encourage entrepreneurship, and enable participants to leverage government livelihood schemes for sustainable income generation.

The trainees namely Chandra Kumari Rathia, Padma Rathia and Vijya Chauhan expressed their appreciation for Vedanta Power’s initiative, stating that the programme has opened new avenues for financial independence and strengthened their confidence to pursue self-employment opportunities. Former Odekera Sarpanch Nan Kunwar Rathia lauded the initiative, observing that such skill development programmes are creating meaningful livelihood opportunities for rural women while enabling them to contribute to their families’ socio-economic well-being.

Under Project Sakhi, Vedanta Power is also operating tailoring training centres across Singhitarai, Nimohi, and Odekera Gram Panchayats, benefiting nearly 120 women. Through its focused CSR interventions, Vedanta Power continues to foster inclusive growth by promoting skill development, women-led entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods, thereby strengthening the socio-economic fabric of its operational communities.
