New Academic Session to Begin from June 16; Textbooks and Uniforms to be Distributed on Time, Says Education Department

KORBA, May 21: The new academic session in the district will commence from June 16, with schools set to witness the return of students after the summer break. In an effort to ensure continuous engagement of children with schools, the Education Department has announced that free textbooks and uniforms will once again be provided to students this year. Officials have assured that the distribution process will be completed on time.

According to the District Education Department, students will not have to wait for the formal Praveshotsav celebrations to receive textbooks and uniforms. While schools may organise the admission festivals at their convenience, the distribution of study material and uniforms will be ensured beforehand. The Textbook Corporation has already started dispatching books and uniforms to cluster centres across the district.

Officials stated that since there has been no major change in the subject-wise syllabus this year, the distribution process is expected to be completed smoothly and within schedule.

During the previous academic session (2025-26), changes in the syllabus of certain subjects and mandatory barcode scanning before distribution had led to delays in several schools due to technical glitches. Learning from the experience, the department has initiated preparations well in advance this year.

School managements have been directed to complete the barcode scanning process by June 10. Textbooks and uniforms supplied by the Government are being sent directly to cluster headquarters. Departmental sources informed that materials have already reached most of the clusters. In-charges of primary and middle schools have been instructed to collect textbooks and uniforms according to the student strength in their respective institutions.

The Education Department has also started efforts to address infrastructural deficiencies and other shortcomings in schools ahead of the new session. Necessary arrangements are being made under the guidance of the Directorate of Public Instruction to ensure a smooth beginning of the academic year.

“Arrangements are being made to ensure that students receive textbooks and uniforms as soon as the academic session begins. Simultaneously, shortcomings and deficiencies in schools will also be addressed in time,” said T.P. Upadhyay, District Education Officer, Korba.
