SECL Hosts Coal Consumers’ Meet for Power & NRS Sectors in Bilaspur

Bilaspur, May 19: South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) on Tuesday organized a Coal Consumers’ Meet for Power and Non-Regulated Sector (NRS) consumers of Coal India’s Central and Western Zone at its headquarters in Bilaspur.

The meeting focused on strengthening coordination with coal consumers and holding discussions on coal supply, quality management, dispatch operations and other industry-related concerns.

SECL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Shri Harish Duhan, Coal India Director (Marketing) Shri Mukesh Chaudhary, SECL Director (Technical/Operations) Shri N. Franklin Jayakumar and Director (Planning/Projects) Shri Rameshchandra Mahapatra were present on the occasion.

Addressing the participants, SECL CMD Shri Harish Duhan said the company remains committed to ensuring timely supply of quality coal to consumers. He informed that SECL has fixed a target of 195 million tonnes of coal production and 200 million tonnes of coal offtake during the current financial year and expressed confidence in achieving the targets through operational efficiency and dedicated efforts.

He further stated that continuous improvement in coal quality and customer satisfaction remain among the top priorities of the company.

Coal India Director (Marketing) Shri Mukesh Chaudhary said Coal India Limited is consistently working towards supplying coal of the prescribed quality and ensuring uninterrupted availability to consumers. He stressed on minimizing grade slippage and resolving quality-related concerns through better coordination and monitoring mechanisms.

He also welcomed suggestions and feedback from consumers and assured that issues raised during the interaction would be addressed on priority.

Around 125 representatives from various power and NRS sector companies attended the meet. Detailed deliberations were held on coal supply, logistics management, quality control and improving mutual coordination between the company and consumers.

Senior officials of Coal India and SECL, including General Manager (Sales & Marketing) Shri Ajit Chaudhary, were also present during the programme.

Later in the evening, Coal India Director (Marketing) Shri Mukesh Chaudhary and SECL CMD Shri Harish Duhan also interacted with representatives of the Chhattisgarh Sponge Iron Manufacturing Association and sponge iron sector consumers at the CMD Conference Hall of SECL Headquarters. Various issues related to the sponge iron industry were discussed during the meeting.
