“SECL Ki Dhadkan”: ‘Gift of Life’ Ceremony Brings New Hope for Children with CHD

In a significant step towards improving child healthcare, SECL in partnership with Sri Sathya Sai Sanjivani Hospital, Raipur organized the ‘Gift of Life’ ceremony, on the occasion of World Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) Awareness Day as part of Coal India Limited’s (CIL) Golden Jubilee celebrations. The event was chaired by Shri Biranchi Das, Director (Personnel), SECL and marked a major milestone in SECL’s CSR-driven healthcare initiative, ‘SECL Ki Dhadkan’.

Currently, 60 no. of surgeries have been done successfully. During the first assessment camp conducted in Balrampur district, Chhattisgarh, 57 children were diagnosed with CHD, underscoring the urgent need for intervention.

Acknowledging the severity of the issue, SECL has approved ₹4.71 Crore for the treatment and surgeries of 300 children suffering from CHD in the coalfield areas of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

‘SECK ki Dhadkan’ funded entirely under SECL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, this initiative ensures that no child in need is deprived of life-saving medical care due to financial constraints. In line with its commitment to community and need of the hour, SECL plans to expand the program to other districts where CHD cases are significantly high.

Speaking at the event, Shri Biranchi Das emphasized SECL’s dedication to healthcare, stating that ensuring the well-being of future generations is a key priority. Parents of the beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude to SECL and the medical professionals at Sri Sathya Sai Sanjivani Hospital for giving their children a renewed chance at life.

Through ‘SECL Ki Dhadkan’, the company is making a meaningful impact by facilitating early detection, diagnosis and surgical treatment of congenital heart defects, ensuring a healthier future for children in coalfield regions.
