Strict action on voter inducement in the upcoming assembly elections- Chief Election Commissioner
Raipur, 24 August . Election Commission of India’s Chief Election Commissioner Mr. Rajiv Kumar reviewed the preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in the meeting of the enforcement agencies today and gave necessary guidelines to the officers. He emphasized the need to ensure all necessary preparations for free, impartial, and transparent elections. He urged for strong measures against voter inducement in the upcoming legislative elections. He instructed all the officers to ensure strict compliance of all the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.
The Election Commissioner of India, Mr. Anup Chandra Pandey and Mr. Arun Goel, Deputy Election Commissioner Mr. Hirdesh Kumar, Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Mr. Dharmendra Sharma, Senior Deputy Election Commissioner, Mr. Nitesh Kumar Vyas, Deputy Election Commissioners, Mr. Manoj Kumar Sahoo, Mr. R.K. Gupta, Mr. Ajay Bhadoo, Director General Mr. B. Narayanan, Director Mr. Yashvendra Singh, Director (IT) Mr. Ashok Kumar, Senior Principal Secretary Mr. N.N.Butolia, Principal Secretary Mr. S.B. Joshi, Joint Director Mr. Anuj Chandak and Under Secretary Mr. Ritesh Kumar thoroughly reviewed the preparations for the 2023 legislative elections. During the meeting, directions were given to establish inter-departmental coordination, ensure a fair and unbiased election process, and prevent any misuse of funds.
In the meeting, officials from various departments including the Police, Income Tax, Excise, Forest, Central Reserve Police Force, Central Industrial Security Force, DRI, Transport, Narcotics Control Bureau, Reserve Bank, Airports Authority of India, CGST, SGST, Postal Department Aviation Department, Enforcement Directorate, Indian Railways, Bureau of Civil Aviation Authority, and other departments were present.
Later, Chief Electoral Officer Ms. Reena Babasaheb Kangale informed the Commission about the preparations for the 2023 legislative elections. Additionally, the Nodal Officer Police, Mr. O.P. Pal, briefed the Commission on the security arrangements for the upcoming elections.
