BALCO Hospital covers 2,357 households in Pulse Polio campaign

KORBA, June 30: BALCO Hospital, the 125-bed healthcare facility of Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), a unit of Vedanta Aluminium, successfully carried out the National Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme, administering polio drops to more than 800 children across the BALCO township and nearby areas.

The campaign was launched in the presence of BALCO Chief Executive Officer and Whole-Time Director Rajesh Kumar Singh. Under the leadership of Chief Medical Officer Dr Vivek Sinha, doctors and paramedical staff conducted immunisation through temporary booths, mobile vaccination vans and an extensive door-to-door outreach programme.

Vaccination camps were organised at more than 12 locations, including BALCO Hospital, Bhadrapara, Kailash Nagar, Parsabhatha, Check Post, Satnam Nagar, Daihanpara, BALCO Bus Stand, Belgiri Basti, Sector-3 Durga Puja Pandal and the Sector-4 Gas Agency. Special booths at busy public places ensured that children travelling with their families also received the vaccine.

Health teams visited 2,357 households during the two-day door-to-door drive to ensure that no eligible child was left uncovered. Parents were also educated about the importance of polio eradication and routine immunisation.

Rajesh Kumar Singh said protecting children from preventable diseases is a collective responsibility and reaffirmed BALCO’s commitment to supporting national health programmes. A local resident, Somnath Patel, appreciated the initiative, saying the health team visited his home after vaccinating his two-year-old daughter at BALCO Hospital. BALCO Hospital continues to provide healthcare services to people from Korba, Raigarh, Bilaspur and Janjgir-Champa districts while actively supporting government immunisation programmes.
