‘‘Mukhyamantri Vriksha Sampada Yojana”, Provision of Rs 100 crore in the budget for successful implementation of the scheme

Annual income of farmers from 15 to 50 thousand rupees per acre

Raipur, March 10 . Chief Minister, Bhupesh Baghel, has announced the implementation of the “Mukhyamantri Vriksha Sampada Yojana” in light of the enormous potential for boosting the commercial use of trees in the state. The commercial plantation is to be done on farmers’ land with their cooperation under the initiative, with the goal of boosting their income. A provision of Rs 100 crore has been allocated in the budget presented by Chief Minister Mr. Baghel for the financial year 2023-24 to ensure its smooth implementation in the state.

Following Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel’s announcement to implement the “Mukhyamantri Vriksha Sampada Yojana” in Chhattisgarh with the goal of promoting commercial tree plantation, the Forest Department has begun preparing for the implementation of the scheme in Chhattisgarh and preparations are in full swing. So far, more than 19,000 beneficiaries have been enrolled for planting in around 30,000 acres of private land under the efficient leadership of Forest and Climate Change Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar and the direction of Mr. Manoj Pingua, Senior Secretary, Forest Department.

This year 12 species of trees will be planted in 30,000 acres of land

In this regard, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief of Forest Force Mr. Sanjay Shukla said that under the Mukhyamantri Vriksha Sampada Yojana, 12 types of trees will be planted in 30,000 acres of land in the state this year. Out of these, the target has been set to plant these trees, Clonal Eucalyptus in 17 thousand 182 acres, Rootshoot Teak in 6 thousand 456 acres, Tissue culture in 2 thousand 617 acres, Sandalwood in 1 thousand 462 acres, Melia dubia in 8 hundred 34 acres, Normal bamboo in 737 acres, tissue culture bamboo in 607 acres, Red sandalwood in 126 acres, Amla in 43 acres, Khamar in 40 acres, Shisham in 20 acres and Mahaneem in 20 acres.

Target of planting 15 crore trees in 1 lakh 80 thousand acres in 5 years under Mukhyamantri Vriksha Sampada Yojana

Farmers, interested land owners, government, semi-government, and autonomous institutions, private educational institutions, private trusts, panchayats, and land contract holders can all benefit from the Mukhyamantri Vriksha Sampada Yojana. The state administration has set a goal of planting 15 crore trees on 36 thousand acres in one year and 1 lakh 80 thousand acres in five years. The state government will grant a 100 percent subsidy for plantations of up to 5 acres and more than 5 acres under this scheme. The government will provide a 50% financial grant for tree planting. The government will also determine the minimum purchase price for specified tree species. Trees of all species planted in the next five years are expected to be worth Rs 10,000 crore when they mature. Farmers are projected to receive Rs 15,000 to Rs 50,000 per acre each year under this scheme. Aside from that, farmers will receive additional cash from carbon credits.


All interested landowners of all classes would be eligible for the Mukhyamantri Vriksha Sampada Yojana. Apart from that, government, semi-government, and autonomous institutions of government will be entitled to plant on their own land. Private educational institutions, private trusts, non-governmental organizations, panchayats, and land contract holders who desire to plant will also be eligible. Meanwhile, Mukhyamantri Vriksha Sampada Yojana’s major goal is to promote commercial tree planted in the state. Following the planting of commercial species on the lands of all farmers, government, non-government, semi-government, panchayats, or autonomous institutions of the state, a strong market system is to be established by making arrangements for the purchase of forest produce at a fixed support price through cooperative institutions, private companies, and so on.
