Over 26 lakh farmers would receive Rs 6,800 crore in input assistance

Presidents of self-supporting Gauthan committees will get honorarium

Raipur, March 10. In the state budget, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has taken concrete efforts to boost the state’s largest population of farmers, agriculture, and related sectors. A special effort has been made to ensure the quality of fertilizers and seeds. An effort has also been made to familiarize farmers with agricultural technologies being implemented in the country and around the world. Together with this, particular efforts have been made in the state to develop self-sufficiency among Gauthans and to protect livestock.

The state government’s budget of 1 lakh 21 thousand 500 crores was presented by the Chief Minister in which the agricultural sector has received considerable attention. Agricultural Department has been assigned the third most important budget allocation after School Education and Panchayat Rural Department. The Agricultural Department alone has a budget of Rs 10 thousand 70 crores.

A budget provision of Rs 23 thousand 215 crores has been made for agriculture and related sectors in the financial year 2023-24. This accounts for 19.11 percent of the overall budget. There is a provision of 6 thousand 800 crores in this to provide exchange assistance to farmers under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana in the agriculture sector regularly throughout the last four years, directly benefiting 26 lakh 41 thousand farmers.

To produce quality crop products in the state, the quality of seeds and fertilizers must also be checked; for this purpose, a new seed law enforcement laboratory is being established in Raipur. Besides that, new fertilizer quality control laboratories are being developed in the districts of Rajnandgaon and Raigarh. In addition, Raipur’s fertilizer laboratory is receiving additional setups. With this, we will be able to exert greater control over fertilizer quality.

A provision of Rs 60 crore has been made in the budget to provide incentive amounts to sugarcane-producing farmers in order to increase sugarcane output in the state. Kisan Suvidha Kendras, on the other hand, would be established in Aliwara village of Rajnandgaon district and Kevra village of Surguja district, where farmers will receive facility of counseling.

Fifty percent of the Gauthans in the state have become self-sufficient. It has been announced that the president of these Gauthan committees will receive Rs 750 and each member will receive Rs 500. This will encourage other Gauthans to be self-sufficient. A budget of Rs 175 crore has been set aside for the Godhan Nyay Yojana. As a result, the state government’s vital initiative will acquire momentum.

A State Animal Home and Animal Hospital are being built in the Raipur village of Datrenga for the treatment and care of animals, with more than two crore rupees allocated for its construction and infrastructure. For animal disease research, 17 new animal disease research facilities are being developed in new districts.

A Center of Excellence will be established in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar to help horticulture farmers learn new techniques. More than two crores are set aside for this purpose. A hi-tech nursery will be established in Gandai to help our farmers become more technologically advanced. Chhuikhadan has long been recognized for its betel crops. A betel research center will be established, with a budget of Rs 2 crore set aside to encourage and revive it.

In the sphere of fisheries, our state is being acknowledged as a new identity in the country. To further this recognition, three new fish farms and hatcheries are being established in Durg district’s Kikirmeta village, Sukma district’s Dubbatota village, and Balod.

For irrigation schemes, provision has been made for 218 major irrigation schemes, 75 medium irrigation schemes, 840 minor irrigation schemes, 598 anicut-stop dams, and 256 new works related to flood control in the budget for the year 2023-24.
