State government paid Rs. 541.66 crore to the beneficiaries of the Godhan NYAY Yojana so far

Raipur, 05 August 2023/ Chief Minister Mr.Bhupesh Baghel virtually released an amount of Rs 15.72 crore as the 73rd installment of the Godhan NYAY Yojana to the beneficiaries on August 5. The program was held in the Chief Minister’s residence office. He released an amount of Rs 5.60 crore to cattle rearers in lieu of cow dung procured from July 14 to July 31 in Gauthans and Rs 9.69 crore to Gauthan committees and women’s SHGs as a dividend. In Gauthans, during the second fortnight of July, 2 lakh 80 thousand quintals of cow dung have been procured under the Godhan NYAY Yojana. The Chief Minister lauds the success of the Godhan NYAY Yojana, which has achieved unique achievements over the past three years. The scheme’s success has garnered widespread appreciation both in Chhattisgarh and nationwide. Other states have adopted similar initiatives, empowering women’s SHGs financially and boosting income for dung sellers and Gauthan committees. Additionally, the scheme has sparked increased interest in animal husbandry among farmers.

Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel highlighted the success of the Gauthan committees in paying 60 to 70 percent of the cow dung purchase amount from their own capital. This reflects their dedication and efforts. Moreover, a surplus of 4.83 lakh quintals of vermicompost is available in Gauthans. The Chief Minister urged all farmers to maximise the use of organic fertilisers in their fields, promoting sustainable agriculture practises.

Agriculture Minister Mr. Tamradhwaj Sahu reported that the farmers have completed the sowing process on approximately 38 lakh hectares, with ongoing seeding and planting activities. He expressed confidence in farmers’ productivity. Chhattisgarh farmers are benefiting from government schemes, leading to improved economic conditions.

The self-supporting Gauthans’ involvement in cow dung procurement is steadily rising day by day. The cow dung vendors in Gauthans received a payment of Rs 5.60 crore. However, the state government has contributed only Rs 2.29 crore, and the self-supporting Gauthans have contributed the remaining Rs 3.31 crore. The state currently operates 10,278 Gauthans, and 5985 Gauthans have achieved the status of self-supporting. These Gauthans have collected cow dung worth Rs 70.27 crore from cattle-rearing farmers using their own funds.

It is worth mentioning that under the Godhan NYAY Yojana, the state government has paid Rs. 541.66 crore to cow dung sellers, Gauthan committees, and women’s self-help groups so far. The state government had paid Rs. 250.08 crore to the cow dung vendors for the procurement of 125.54 lakh quintals of cow dung out of 128.34 lakh quintals of cow dung. The state government paid Rs 5.60 crore on August 5, and now the total amount has reached Rs 255.68 crore. Moreover, Gauthan committees and women’s SHGs have received Rs 257.29 crore, which has reached Rs 266.98 crore after the payment of Rs 9.69 crore to these committees and groups on August 5.
