Raipur : Mrs. Bhagwantin Bai discovered a means of earning through the Poshan Badi Yojana

Raipur, 1 August 2023 . The Chhattisgarh Government has introduced the Narva Garwa Ghurwa and Badi Yojana as a part of the ‘Suraji Gaon Yojana’ to strengthen the rural economy and provide more income opportunities for villagers. The Horticulture department runs the Poshan Badi Yojana, helping rural people get fresh and green vegetables near their place.

Mrs. Bhagwantin Bai, a resident of village Deori in Gariaband district, embraced this initiative and is cultivating vegetables in her Badi. Mrs. Bhagwantin Bai stated that she grows vegetables on her 0.20 hectare of land. Earlier, she farmed traditionally which earned her less income. With the help of the Agriculture Department, she learned about the Poshan Badi Yojana. She enrolled her name in the survey being conducted by the Horticulture Department for the development of Badi in the village.

The department provided her with seeds and vermicompost manure to cultivate vegetables. Inspired by the information, Bhagwantin Bai planted vegetables on 0.20-hectare Badi, resulting in efficient vegetable production. Now, she earns 25,000-30,000 monthly by selling them in local Haat bazaars. Additionally, she gets vegetables for the whole year from her badi, employing her family along with her.

It is noteworthy that the Chhattisgarh government’s ambitious Narva Garwa Ghurwa Badi Yojana has proven to be quite beneficial for people. This scheme has emerged as a medium of economic development for rural residents. In accordance with the government’s efforts, livelihood-oriented activities are being undertaken in rural areas so that villagers have new employment opportunities and extra sources of income.
