SECL’s All-Women Dispensary Completes One Year, CMD Envisions Centre of Excellence

BILASPUR, July 14: Coal India’s first fully women-operated dispensary at South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has successfully completed one year of service, marking a significant milestone in the company’s efforts towards women empowerment and inclusive healthcare.

The first anniversary of the Vasant Vihar Dispensary was celebrated on Tuesday in the presence of SECL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Harish Duhan, who attended the programme as the chief guest. The celebrations began with a cake-cutting ceremony attended by women doctors, healthcare professionals of the dispensary, medical officers from Indira Health Centre, and other staff members.

Operational since July 2025, the dispensary has been managed entirely by women doctors and healthcare personnel, providing medical services to SECL employees and their dependents. The initiative is regarded as Coal India’s first healthcare facility run exclusively by an all-women team.

Addressing the gathering, Duhan described the dispensary as a matter of pride for SECL and said the initiative reflects the growing leadership, competence and professionalism of women across various sectors. He said the company aims to develop the Vasant Vihar Dispensary into a Centre of Excellence in the coming years and is committed to strengthening healthcare infrastructure to achieve that objective.

Chief Medical Services Dr Shruti Dev Mishra, Deputy Chief Medical Services Dr Arihant Jain, and Deputy Medical Superintendent and In-charge of Vasant Vihar Dispensary Dr Nazia Mohammadi were among those present on the occasion, along with doctors and healthcare staff from the dispensary and Indira Health Centre.

The medical team expressed satisfaction over the successful completion of the dispensary’s first year and reaffirmed its commitment to providing compassionate, efficient and quality healthcare services to beneficiaries in the years ahead.
