Bilaspur, May 26: Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines Shri Satish Chandra Dubey on Monday reviewed the operational performance and future roadmap of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) during his one-day visit to the company headquarters in Bilaspur.
During the visit, the Minister launched two major digital initiatives — the e-DADAS (Design and Drawings Approval in SECL) Portal and the Hospital Management and Information System (HMIS) Portal — besides inaugurating a state-of-the-art 5-Part Hematology Analyzer Unit at Indira Vihar Health Centre.
On arrival at the SECL Headquarters, Dubey paid floral tributes at the Coal Miners’ Memorial and acknowledged the contribution of coal workers towards nation building and ensuring the country’s energy security.

Later, chairing a high-level review meeting at the SECL Headquarters, the Minister assessed the company’s progress in coal production, dispatch, quality management, mine safety, coal gasification, mine closure, environmental initiatives, digitisation, CSR activities and future operational plans. The meeting was attended by SECL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Harish Duhan, functional directors, Chief Vigilance Officer, senior officials of the Ministry of Coal and SECL officers.
Emphasising safe and sustainable mining practices, Dubey called for greater use of modern technologies to improve operational efficiency and transparency. He said SECL has been playing a key role in strengthening the nation’s energy security and appreciated the company’s performance in the fields of production, quality control, safety and environmental responsibility.
The Minister also stressed that CSR initiatives should focus on ensuring that the benefits of development and welfare schemes reach people residing in coalfield regions.
During the meeting, SECL CMD Harish Duhan informed that in the current financial year 2026-27, SECL has contributed 26.86 million tonnes to Coal India Limited’s milestone production of 100 million tonnes achieved so far. He reiterated SECL’s commitment to meeting the country’s growing energy demands under the guidance of the Ministry of Coal.
The newly launched e-DADAS portal will digitalise the process of examination, monitoring and approval of engineering designs and drawings related to FMC systems, CHP-Silos, railway sidings, in-pit conveyor systems and other infrastructure projects. Officials said the initiative would help improve transparency, efficiency and time-bound execution of projects.
Similarly, the HMIS portal has been introduced to strengthen healthcare services in SECL hospitals through digitised patient records, faster medical assistance and improved healthcare monitoring systems.
Later, the Minister inaugurated an advanced 5-Part Hematology Analyzer Unit at the Indira Vihar Health Centre in Bilaspur. The machine is capable of accurate detection of infections and various diseases through detailed analysis of white blood cells.
Equipped with an automated testing system, the unit is expected to provide faster and error-free reports, thereby improving the overall efficiency of laboratory and hospital services.
Dubey also inspected healthcare facilities at the centre and appreciated the efforts being made to provide quality medical services to patients.
