Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai takes swift cognizance of drinking water issue in Cherajobla village

Directs immediate field inspection and urgent measures to restore pure drinking water supply

Raipur, May 06, 2026/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday directed the Surguja district administration to take immediate steps to address a drinking water crisis in Cherajobla village of the Mainpat region after taking note of a newspaper report highlighting the issue.

Chief Minister came across a report titled “Nala aur dhodhi ke dushit jal par aaj bhi nirbhar hain vanvasi” while reviewing newspapers in the morning and promptly contacted Surguja Collector Shri Ajit Vasant, asking him to ensure drinking water arrangements in the affected settlement at the earliest.

Shri Sai directed officials to conduct an immediate field inspection in the village and initiate necessary measures, including handpump drilling, alternative drinking water arrangements and long-term solutions to address the shortage. He said residents of remote forest areas should not be deprived of basic amenities and stressed that delivery of essential services in tribal and interior regions must remain a priority.

Chief Minister also called for regular review of drinking water, road, healthcare and education facilities in Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) dominated areas. He said the government’s focus is not limited to framing schemes but ensuring that their benefits reach people on the ground.
