Stepping in on time, police prevents major mishap

DURG, July 7 District police arrested a history-sheeter under the charges of threatening local residents. In the past, the accused has served sentence of 7 years under the charges of attempt to murder.

Abiding by the instructions of newly posted SP Prashant Agrawal, police is keeping tabs on history-sheeters, in an attempt to avoid any undesirable incident. On Tuesday night, police received intel about the accused, Santosh Sharma (Mathura), threatening people with arms. As per the information, the accused was standing at Subhash Chowk Camp 1, Bhilai, and was accompanied by some others. They might have resorted to some major crime, if not for the timely intervention of police.

Khursipar SHO Durgesh Sharma and Chhavni SHO Suresh Dhruv reached the spot with their respective teams and arrested the accused. A desi katta and some bullets were seized from him and case was registered under Section 25, 27 of Arms Act. Mathura was allegedly trying to re-establish a reign of terror after being released from jail; and police kept an eye on him to prevent any major criminal activity.
