KORBA, Jul 3 The daughters generally receive gold and silver jewellery, household items, clothes and other valuables in their wedding. However, Charameti Foundation has set an example by gifting 51 saplings to two girls. Both the girls are sisters of Foundation members.
The guests attending two different weddings on 1st July witnessed a unique gift for the bride. Sisters of Hemant Ganeshwar and Rajesh Sahu, Nilima Ganeshwar and Neetu Sahu were married on Thursday and Charameti Foundation gifted them 51 saplings each.
The Foundation has been functioning in the district since 2015 and started this practice of gifting saplings from 10 November, 2017. So far, they have gifted saplings to 59 couples.
Katghora MLA Purushottam Kanwar said that the gift by Charameti Foundation is not only unique, but highly useful. It will provide oxygen for several years to come. President of the Foundation Prashant Mahto and General Secretary Rajendra Ojha said that while other gift items are rendered useless with time, the oxygen given out by plants continues for years. Thus, the Foundation started this tradition of gifting saplings. The first sapling gift was given to Prashant’s sister on her wedding in April 2018.
Katghora MLA Purushottam Kanwar, Vishal Shukla, Prashant Mahto, Arvind Soni, Girish Rathore and others went to gift saplings to the two brides.
