The programme was inaugurated by Shri Anil Kumar, Executive Director, NTPC Lara. Addressing the gathering Shri Kumar stressed on importance of health and hygiene in our day-to-day life and how our health gets affected for an unhygienic condition. Shri Kumar also stressed on why we are observing this fortnight, and what is its importance in our life. As this year’s theme is ‘Swabhav Swachhata – Sanskar Swachhata’, by this observance we are trying to inculcate the culture of maintaining cleanliness in all our activities.
Various cleaning activities, awareness generation campaigns, and shramdan are organised by NTPC Lara. This year, the “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign will focus on three major points. These include public participation, awareness and advocacy, Shramdaan for cleanliness as the second pillar of the campaign, and rejuvenation of the cleanliness targeted unit. On this theme, places in need of special attention in cleanliness for a long time will be identified. Decisions regarding setting up parks, pathways, and entertainment facilities for children at such places will be taken in the presence of public representatives. As the third pillar of the campaign, decisions will be taken regarding health check-ups and social security of Safai Mitras engaged in cleaning work.
The ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign will conclude on October 2nd, 2024, on ‘Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti’. On this day, efforts will be made to spread Mahatma Gandhi’s concept of cleanliness to people.
