Raipur 07 September 2024// After a long wait, Mahuapani village in the Bagicha block of Jashpur district is set to receive electricity for the first time, ending its long-standing period of darkness. The village, home to the Korwa tribe—a special backward tribe—has previously been deprived of basic amenities such as electricity. Thanks to the proactive efforts of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, the project for electrifying Mahuapani has been approved under the PM-JANMAN Yojana. This significant development marks a historic milestone for the village and promises to enhance the quality of life for its residents.
Mahuapani, located approximately 85 kilometers from the Jashpur district headquarters, is home to over 100 families from the Korwa tribe. The villagers had submitted an application to the Chief Minister’s camp office in Bagiya requesting the electrification of their village. Acting on the Chief Minister’s instructions, the camp office took swift action, leading to the project’s approval under the PM-JANMAN Yojana.
This will be the first time electricity reaches Mahuapani, transforming life for the Korwa tribe, who have lived under the dense canopy of forests for generations. The introduction of electricity will open new avenues in education, communication, healthcare, and employment, thereby enhancing the villagers’ connection with the outside world. Villagers Aalu Ram, Bhadai Ram, Khulu Paikra, and Rambisal Yadav expressed their excitement over the news, stating that the announcement has created a festive atmosphere in the village. This development will bring about positive changes, making the village bustling with activity both day and night. They conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai for this initiative.
