Prime Minister inaugurated a 50-megawatt railway solar power plant, constructed at a cost of Rs. 280 crore, in Charoda-Bhilai

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the ‘Viksit Bharat, Viksit Chhattisgarh’ program held at the Indoor Stadium in Raipur on Saturday through video conferencing. Shri Modi highlighted the government’s efforts to make Chhattisgarh a hub of solar energy and dedicated the 100 megawatts AC/155 megawatts DC solar energy project built at a cost of rupees 907 crore in 451 acres of barren land in Rajnandgaon district. The project has the capacity to supply electricity to the surrounding areas even during the night. Additionally, he inaugurated a 50-megawatt railway solar power plant in Charoda -Bhilai at a cost of rupees 280 crore.
The Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai graced the event as Chief Guet and Culture Minister Shri Brijmohan Agrawal presided the event.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi briefed about the ‘PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana’. Shri Modi stated that the government is striving to make every household a solar-powered home and to zero electricity bills for consumers, aiming to include one crore households across the country. He mentioned that the government will assist in installing solar panels on rooftops and will directly transfer funds to bank accounts. This initiative will provide free electricity up to 300 units, and the surplus electricity generated will be bought back by the government, and families can save thousands of rupees annually. This initiative will also provide employment opportunities for the youth. The Prime Minister also emphasized supporting farmers by aiding in setting up small-scale solar plants on barren land, transforming them from food providers to energy providers. Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, senior officials, and large number of people were present in the program.
