Chief Minister extends best wishes for Rajim Kumbh Kalp

Raipur, 23 February 2024/ Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has extended best wishes to people of the state for the Rajim Kumbh Kalp and Shivrinarayan Mela commencing on 24th February. Shri Sai said that Rajim Kumbh Kalp is being organized in Rajim- the city popularly known as the Prayagraj of Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh Government is determined to restore the grandeur of Rajim Kumbh to its original form. In the same sequence, ‘Rajim Maghi Punni Mela’ has been renamed as ‘Rajim Kumbh Kalp’, reimagined to preserve and promote our glorious cultural heritage. Rajim Kumbh Kalp will be held from 24 February Magh Purnima to 8 March Maha Shivratri this year. This year Rajim Kumbh Kalp will be celebrated as Ramotsav.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that Rajim Kumbh Mela has been organized for centuries at the sacred ‘Triveni Sangam’ i.e. the confluence of three rivers- Mahanadi, Pairi and Sondhur. A large number of people from across Chhattisgarh as well as the neighbouring states participate in this mega event with zeal and fervour. This event depicts the religious traditions and the folk culture of Chhattisgarh. This year, preparations at an extensive scale are in progress at Rajim Triveni Sangam. Sadhus, saints and devotees from all over the country arrive at Rajim to attend this mega fair. During the celebration of Rajim Kumbh Kalp, three holy baths (Pavitra Snan) will be held and various cultural and religious programs will be organized.

Shri Sai said that on the occasion of Magh Purnima, a fair similar to Rajim Kumbh is organized in Shivrinarayan as well. In this Shivrinarayan Mela held at the holy confluence of Mahanadi, Shivnath and Jonk rivers, large number of devotees gather to perform rituals. Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has also extended best wishes for the upcoming Sirpur Mahotsav. Sirpur Mahotsav will also be celebrated on Maghi Purnima on the banks of Mahanadi in Sirpur.
