100-Day National TB Eradication Program : SECL conducts 48 Nikshay Camps

  • 2389 people screened so far, various programs being conducted for TB awareness

SECL is making significant strides in the fight against tuberculosis (TB) by actively participating in the 100-day National TB Eradication Program under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Under this initiative, SECL is conducting free TB tests for its employees and the general public by organizing Nikshay camps at its headquarters and operational areas.

2389 Individuals Tested in 48 Nikshay Camps

As part of its commitment to public health, SECL has successfully conducted free TB tests for 2,389 people through approximately 48 Nikshay camps. These camps have been organized across SECL’s operational areas, including its headquarters in Bilaspur and various districts of Chhattisgarh such as Korba, Raigarh, Korea, and Surajpur. The initiative aims to enhance early detection and treatment of TB, contributing to the broader national goal of eradicating the disease.

Comprehensive Awareness Programs on TB Prevention

In addition to conducting free TB tests, SECL is actively involved in spreading awareness about TB prevention and treatment. Various awareness activities are being organized, including:
• Taking the Nishchay oath at workplaces to reaffirm commitment towards TB elimination.
• Conducting awareness campaigns at religious places such as temples and churches.
• Educating communities living around SECL offices and mines through short films, banners, and posters.
• Engaging school children in TB awareness through competitions and interactive programs.
National TB Elimination Program (NTEP): Towards a TB-Free India

The 100-day campaign is an integral part of the National TB Elimination Program (NTEP), operating under the National Health Mission (NHM). As a part of the National Strategic Plan (NSP) 2017-2025, this program focuses on reducing TB incidence, strengthening diagnostic and treatment capabilities, and addressing the socio-economic challenges associated with TB.

This ambitious initiative aligns with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who, at the 2018 End TB Summit, called for the elimination of TB in India by 2025. SECL’s active participation in the program underscores its unwavering commitment to public health and social welfare.

SECL remains dedicated to supporting national health initiatives and will continue to play a crucial role in the fight against TB, ensuring a healthier future for all.
