Efficient operation of Anganwadi centers at the grassroots level is crucial for the successful implementation of welfare programmes for children and women. Keeping this in view, the state is in the process of developing 10,000 Anganwadi centers as model centers. Out of these, 1,047 Anganwadi centers have been revamped into attractive ‘Bal Sulabh Kendra’. Additionally, in 10 aspirational districts and 20 development blocks within the state, Anganwadi centers are being developed as Saksham Anganwadi Centers.

To enhance the quality of services offered by Anganwadi centers, it is important for them to have dedicated buildings. In areas where Anganwadi centers currently lack proper infrastructure, the state government is prioritizing the construction of Anganwadi buildings to improve the convenience for beneficiaries. The state government has already approved the construction of buildings for a total of 47,189 Anganwadi and Mini Anganwadi centers, out of a total of 52,474 centers across the state. Furthermore, for the fiscal year 2023-24, a target has been set to construct an additional 5,000 Anganwadi buildings. In coordination with the School Education Department, ‘Balwadis’ will be started in over 5,000 Anganwadi centers in line with the New Education Policy.
