The NCC cadets are spreading awareness about keeping ponds, rivers, and reservoirs clean through the Puneet Sagar Abhiyan. In this regard, a program was organized at Telibandha Talab Raipur today, The NCC cadets were honoured for their efforts in motivating people to maintain the cleanliness of rivers, ponds, and seas. During the event, the cadets raised slogans about water conservation and its proper utilization. Over 2000 cadets from various institutions of the NCC Raipur Group participated in the program.

This program was organized to commemorate the completion of one year of the Puneet Sagar Abhiyan. The event aimed to motivate the local people and future generations to keep the ponds, rivers, and reservoirs clean and highlight their importance. On the lines of the Swachh Bharat Mission, NCC is running the Puneet Sagar Abhiyan across the country to free rivers and ponds from plastic and other wastes and to create awareness among people to save the environment from plastic waste. It is worth mentioning that the NCC Group Raipur, along with its 16 units spread across Chhattisgarh has been actively participating in the Puneet Sagar Abhiyan for the last year. The NCC group in Raipur has around 18,000 cadets enrolled in approximately 253 schools and 100 colleges throughout the state. To date, the NCC cadets of Raipur Group have successfully made 75 water bodies in Chhattisgarh free of plastic waste by collecting 2400 kg of plastic waste and sending it for recycling. In Chhattisgarh, an extensive awareness campaign is ongoing to educate the local population about the importance of cleaning and conserving water bodies by the NCC cadets. To achieve this goal, NCC cadets have organized various activities such as Jagrukta rallies, Nukkad natak, painting competitions, and signature campaigns in collaboration with the local population, Gram Panchayat, Municipal Corporations, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).

Major General Sanjay Sharma (Retd.) graced the event as chief guest along with MLA Mr. Kuldeep Juneja, MLA Mr. Vikas Upadhyay, Mr. Brijmohan Agarwal, Chairman of Labour Department Mr. Sushil Sunny Agarwal, former ADG, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Brigadier Vivek Sharma, VSM (Retired), Colonel Vishnu Shikarwar, Colonel Santosh Rawat, and Colonel Rakesh Budhani.

In today’s event, NCC cadets from schools and colleges of 8 CG Girls Bn, 27 CG Bn, 5 CG CGI, 1 CG Naval Unit, and 3 CG Air Squadron participated, along with citizens of Raipur city, and volunteers. NCC cadets presented Nukkad Natak, Puneet Sagar songs, dances, and speeches. Chhattisgarhi artist Mr Sunil Tiwari also performed on this occasion.

Group Commander Brigadier Vikram Singh Chauhan, YSM, gave detailed information about the Puneet Sagar Abhiyan conducted by NCC cadets in the state. Mr. Chauhan also highlighted social services and community development activities like the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, de-addiction campaign, blood donation, voter awareness campaign, tree planting, cleaning and maintenance of martyrs’ statues, women empowerment, Vocal for Local, and Ban Plastic Drive. He added that the NCC is working vigorously in Chhattisgarh.
