Raipur, September 5, 2023 . In a significant move guided by Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, the Chhattisgarh Government officially unveiled the “Chhattisgarh Tourism Policy 2020” through a Gazette notification dated April 18, 2020. This policy marks a pivotal step in recognizing tourism as a full-fledged industry within the state. Implemented for a five-year term, the Chhattisgarh Tourism Policy 2020 outlines strategies to boost tourism through PPP model and tourism promotion for local entrepreneurs and private investors. Furthermore, it lays out a comprehensive plan to develop tourism destinations across all districts of the state.
Water Tourism
Recognizing the vast potential for water tourism within the state, Chhattisgarh Government has identified nine key water bodies for comprehensive development. These include Murum Silli, Gangrel Dam Dhamtari, Hasdeo Bango reservoir Korba, Sanjay Gandhi Jalashay (Khutaghat) Ratanpur, Saroda Reservoir Kabirdham, Samoda Barrage, Kodar Reservoir Raipur, Manaliya Reservoir Gaurela, and Dudhawa Reservoir Kanker.
Ram Van Gaman Path
In an effort to promote spiritual tourism, a total of 75 locations have been selected falling under the Ram Van Gaman Path in Chhattisgarh. The first phase, which encompasses ten locations such as Sitamadi Harchouka, Ramgarh, Shivrinayaran, Champaran, Turturiya, Chandkhuri, Rajim, Sihawa Saptrishi Ashram, Jagdalpur, and Ramaram, has been allocated a substantial budget of Rs 162 crores for development and beautification. Notably, the initial phases in Chandkhuri, Shivrinarayan, Rajim, and Champaran have already been successfully completed.
Tribal Tourism Circuit
Chhattisgarh is celebrating its rich cultural diversity by starting resorts in various districts under the “Tribal Tourism Circuit.” These include Eco Resort Kurdar in Bilaspur district, Baiga Ethnic Resort Saroda Dadar in Kabirdham district, Dhankul Ethnic Resort in Kondagaon district, Sarna Ethnic Resort in Jashpur district, Koinar Highway Treat in Jashpur district, Hill Myna Highway Treat in Kanker district, Satrenga Boat Club and Resort in Korba district, and Site Amenity in Maheshpur in Surguja district .
