Raipur, 29 August 2023/ Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel paid homage to Major Dhyan Chand by garlanding his photograph on the occasion of his birth anniversary at his residence office on Tuesday. He extended his best wishes to players and sports enthusiasts on National Sports Day. Recalling the contribution of the great hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, he said that he is also recognized as the ‘Wizard of Hockey’. He added that Major Dhyan Chand made us proud with his remarkable sportsmanship, and to honour and commemorate him, we celebrate his birthday as Sports Day every year.
Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, emphasized the importance of sports in our lives, stating that sports develop essential qualities such as leadership, dedication, and discipline that contribute to success. He also highlighted the numerous opportunities available for youth in the field of sports. The Chhattisgarh government is committed to promoting and encouraging sports talents in the state. The government has developed state-of-the-art international-level sports infrastructure and established the Sports Development Authority to support players at the national and international levels. The Chhattisgarhia Olympics were launched to identify and provide a platform for local sports talent in the state, giving them the opportunity to advance in the field of sports. The Minister of Commercial Tax (Excise), Commerce, and Industry, Mr. Kawasi Lakhma, MLA Mr. Rekhchand Jain, Chairman of CREDA, Mr. Mithilesh Swarnakar, President of Raipur Municipal Corporation Mr. Pramod Dubey along with other dignitaries were present on this occasion.
