Millets products worth more than Rs 7 lakh sold
Raipur, 25 August 2023/ The Chhattisgarh Government’s introduction of the Rural Industrial Park (RIPA) scheme aims to promote rural entrepreneurship and establish small-scale industries. To facilitate the establishment of these businesses, the government has ensured the provision of all essential amenities within RIPA. This accessibility to basic resources has eliminated the need for rural residents to travel to distant cities, as they can now access necessary resources in their vicinity. Mr. Jai Prakash Patel, a farmer from Dongitrai village panchayat in Raigarh district, processes and packs 400–500 kg of millets like Kodo, Bajra, and Ragi per day for sale. He has earned a net profit of about Rs. 90,000 from sales of millet packets worth more than Rs. 7 lakh. The RIPA scheme made it easier for Mr. Jai Prakash Patel to become an entrepreneur. To set up a millet, grain processing, and packaging unit worth Rs. 25 lakhs. Mr. Jai Prakash was given a loan of Rs. 10 lakhs from the bank, along with a loan of Rs. 5 lakhs under PMEGP and an amount of Rs. 10 lakhs from RIPA.
Mr. Jai Prakash Patel comes from a farming family and completed his MA studies while helping his father with agricultural work. He learned sales techniques while working at Fasal Bazar Company and achieved his dream by joining the RIPA scheme, which has helped other young people fulfil their dreams. He is now encouraging nearby farmers to produce these millets and improve their economic condition.
The RIPA scheme in Chhattisgarh creates new avenues for rural employment and empowers communities to become self-sufficient. With the success of various business activities, the scheme is playing a crucial role in transforming the rural landscape, bolstering economic development, and uplifting the living standards of rural residents.
