Chhattisgarh’s EV Policy boosts Electric Vehicle registrations in the state: Over 71,736 electric vehicles now on state roads

Transport Department offers a 10% subsidy on vehicle value to the buyer

Raipur, 17 August 2023/ Chhattisgarh’s Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy has positively impacted the sales of electric vehicles, with 71,736 registrations after the implementation of EV Policy-2022, underlining the state government’s commitment to transforming towards eco-friendly means of transportation.

Transport Minister, Mr. Mohammad Akbar, has expressed the government’s commitment to promoting electric vehicles in Chhattisgarh, in consonance with Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel’s vision. To encourage people to adopt electric vehicles, the state government is offering subsidies to individuals who purchase electric vehicles. To avail the benefit of subsidy, the vehicle seller or dealer must provide their account number and IFSC code. The Transport Department will transfer an amount equivalent to 10 percent of the vehicle’s value, up to a maximum of Rs. 1.5 lakh, directly to the buyer’s account.

According to Mr. Dipanshu Kabra, the Transport Commissioner, a total of 71,736 electric vehicles have been registered across the state. The Electric Vehicle Policy 2022 has benefitted 27,110 EV owners in Raipur, 8,272 EV owners in Durg, 7,438 EV owners in Bilaspur, 4,302 EV owners in Ambikapur, 3,461 EV owners in Rajnandgaon, 3,311 EV owners in Korba, 3,243 EV owners in Raigarh, 2,415 EV owners in Balodabazar, and 2,367 EV owners in Janjgir-Champa.

Similarly, the Electric Vehicle Policy 2022 has extended its benefits to 1,086 EV owners in Surajpur, 1,040 EV owners in Dhamtari, 1,004 EV owners in Mahasamund, 782 EV owners in Jagdalpur, 680 EV owners in Baikunthpur, 634 EV owners in Jashpur, 627 EV owners in Mungeli, 603 EV owners in Kawardha, 596 EV owners in Balod, and 517 EV owners in Bemetara, 500 EV owners in Dantewada, 429 EV owners in Kanker, 330 EV owners in Kondagaon, 279 EV owners in Balrampur, 213 EV owners in Gariaband, 170 EV owners in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, 134 EV owners in Bijapur, 97 EV owners in Narayanpur, and 96 EV owners in Sukma.
