“Rural industries should be established in RIPA considering the local needs”: Minister Ravindra Choubey

Raipur, 10 August 2023/ The Panchayat and Rural Development Minister, Mr. Ravindra Choubey, emphasised boosting the rural economy through livelihood-focused activities within the state’s developing RIPA zones, considering the local requirements. He stressed the promotion of traditional industries within these zones. To support rural industries in RIPA, he advocated comprehensive infrastructure development and the establishment of youth-led ventures. Mr. Choubey urged the involvement of diverse classes and families engaged in traditional businesses in RIPA centres. Mr. Choubey conducted a review meeting of Panchayat Department schemes at Thakur Pyarelal Rajya Panchayat Nimora’s auditorium in Raipur. He also inaugurated the District Panchayat Resource Centre building, worth Rs 3.06 crore.

Panchayat and Rural Development Minister, Mr. Ravindra Choubey, shared with the officials that the state aimed to provide 11,76,146 houses to the beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G). Presently, 868,223 houses have been completed, while 307,923 are in progress. Emphasising prompt completion of ongoing construction, he instructed the officials to swiftly execute sanctioned MNREGA projects. The Minister directed officials to complete all ongoing MNREGA projects within two months. He instructed the officials to link all women associated with Gauthan to the activities of the National Rural Livelihood Mission and government schemes, notably those by the Labour Department. Furthermore, he underlined the necessity of financial literacy training for all women in self-help groups.

During a review meeting, Mr. Choubey instructed the officials to encourage more villagers to engage in schemes of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department. This approach will boost people’s income and support the rural economy. He instructed the officials to expedite ongoing rural industry growth and economic activities within Gauthans. He also instructed the officials to complete the process of delving into the ODF under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) in compliance with the SBM provisions. Additionally, he approved projects concerning solid and liquid waste management and directed the district administration to expedite their completion.
