Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel pays tribute to Dr.Khubchand Baghel on his birth anniversary

Chief Minister Mr Bhupesh Baghel paid tribute to the freedom fighter and literary icon Dr Khubchand Baghel on his birth anniversary, July 19. Honouring his immense contributions to Chhattisgarh, the Chief Minister lauded Khubchand ji’s unwavering dedication to serving the state through farmer-labourer-friendly initiatives. Throughout his life, he tirelessly worked for the welfare of Chhattisgarh, leaving a lasting impact on the region. Dr. Baghel’s progressive thoughts and values steered Chhattisgarh in a new direction. He gained fame as a compassionate writer, social reformer, and accomplished doctor. His dedication to promoting the Chhattisgarhi language, folk culture, and statehood aspirations earned him the title of the first visionary behind Chhattisgarh’s state formation.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel praised Dr. Baghel, influenced by Mahatma Gandhi’s ideology, for actively joining the independence movement during his studies. Dr. Baghel’s visits in various villages inspired many youths to support the Swadeshi movement and the freedom struggle. His impactful plays written against social evils left a lasting impression on the public.
The Government of Chhattisgarh bestows a state-level award recognising significant achievements and research in agriculture in memory of Dr. Baghel, annually. Additionally, the ‘Dr. Khubchand Baghel Swasthya Sahayata Yojana’, initiated on January 1, 2020, offers improved healthcare services to all state citizens and is presently covering 69 lakh families in the state. The Chief Minister expressed that Dr. Khubchand Baghel’s legacy and contributions will continue to serve as an enduring source of inspiration for everyone.
