9 state players shine in Taekwondo, selected for national-level competitions

Jashpur district’s players win 9 Gold medals, 4 Silver medals, and 2 Bronze medals in the state-level Taekwondo competition

Chhattisgarh’s Taekwondo players are gaining recognition and bringing fame to the state with their exceptional talent. The 19th State Level Taekwondo Competition took place from June 26 to June 29, 2023, at the Taekwondo Stadium in Jashpur. Twelve players from the Jashpur district showcased their skills and made the district proud by securing 9 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze medals. Additionally, the district achieved the runner-up position in ‘Taekwondo Poomsae’ in Chhattisgarh. Three players from the Eklavya Sports Academy for Taekwondo in Jashpur bagged gold medals. The victorious players will represent Chhattisgarh in the junior-level competition in Bangalore on July 4, while the selected players in the cadet category will compete in Lucknow on July 25, 2023. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel extended his best wishes and praised the players and coaches for their outstanding performance in Taekwondo sports.

Jashpur Collector Dr. Ravi Mittal shared the impressive achievements of five players from Swami Atmanand English Medium School in the state-level competition. Rudra Pratap Singh won a gold and silver medal, Yuvraj Kumar won a gold medal, Ms. Srishti Ekka won a silver medal, and Ayush Yadav and Ashwin Kumar both won bronze medals. Furthermore, Prateek Bada from Jashpuranchal English Medium School won a gold medal. Ajay Chauhan won two gold medals, Arjun Ram won one gold and one silver medal, and Karan Ram won a gold medal.

Jashpur Collector Dr.Ravi Mittal highlighted that the district provides regular free training to these accomplished players. The selected players will now have the opportunity to showcase their skills at the national level. On July 4, 2023, the players will depart for Bangalore to compete in the junior-level competition, while the players selected in the Cadet category will reach Lucknow on July 25, 2023. He further mentioned that 18 players from the Jashpur district were recently selected at the national level. The district is actively preparing its players for upcoming district and state-level competitions in the senior and sub-junior categories with regular training sessions.
