Raipur: PRRC Center is proving to be a boon for the Divyangjans

More than 5000 artificial limbs and assistive accessories provided free of cost to 3,740 Divyangs of the state

Raipur, 11 April . The state-of-the-art Rehabilitation Center (Physical Referral Rehabilitation Center) established in Raipur is giving a new ray of hope to thousands of differently-abled persons by providing them with assistive equipment like artificial limbs, wheelchairs as well as physiotherapy. People from Chhattisgarh as well as neighboring states have started coming to this rehabilitation center to get artificial limbs made. In collaboration with the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC), the Rehabilitation Center provides free-of-cost artificial limbs to the divyangjans and also provides training in limb movement and balance.

It is noteworthy that special equipment is also made for the rehabilitation of patients suffering from cerebral palsy in this rehabilitation center. Such patients have a lack of balance in walking, they are given free of cost wheelchairs, sitting chair , so that the patients can eat, sit and read easily. Along with this, special physiotherapy equipment is also available for the convenience of such patients, through which patients are treated through physical exercises. Apart from this, artificial limbs, calipers and other assistive accessories are also made according to the needs of the patients. So far, 3 thousand 740 patients have been benefited with 5 thousand 258 artificial limbs and assistive devices through this centre. In the month of March, 32 artificial devices have been prepared and provided to the beneficiaries of 10 districts.

It is noteworthy that under the provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, Physical Referral Rehabilitation Center has been set up by the Social Welfare Department to provide state-of-the-art artificial limbs and accessories free of cost to the divyangjans of the state.
