Farmers Mrs. Chhaiyya and Mr. Rajesh thanked the Chief Minister for increasing the per acre quantity of paddy purchase
Raipur, 24 March . Taking a significant step in the interest of farmers, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has made an announcement in the assembly to buy 20 quintals of paddy per acre from farmers at support price instead of 15 quintals per acre. There is a wave of happiness among the farmers of the Mahasamund district after this announcement. Small-scale and large-scale farmers have expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister on social media and WhatsApp groups.
Mrs. Chhaiyya Bai Sahu, a farmer hailing from Parsathi village of Mahasamund, said her farmland produced more paddy, but that entire paddy could not be sold at the support price. The remaining paddy had to be sold through touts. Due to this, they used to get less profit. She further said that “But now with the decision of the Chief Minister, every grain of paddy produced in our land will be bought. This will benefit us a lot”. She congratulated the government and the Chief Minister for this.
Speaking on the phone, Mr. Rajesh Sidar, a farmer of Pirda village of Basna assembly constituency, said that the Chief Minister has now increased paddy procurement by 5 quintals per acre in the interest of the farmers. This will be of great benefit to the farmers. He further informed that even after selling 80 quintals of paddy at the support price earlier, a lot of paddy was left. But now with the decision to buy 20 quintals of paddy per acre, their entire paddy will be sold. This will further strengthen their economic condition.
