KORBA, July 2: As many as 6,314 beneficiaries of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana in Korba district have yet to complete the mandatory e-KYC process despite being given sufficient time, raising concerns over the continuation of their monthly financial assistance under the State Government’s flagship welfare scheme.
According to the Women and Child Development Department, the district has 2,89,635 registered beneficiaries under the scheme. Of them, 2,83,321 women have successfully completed the e-KYC formalities, while the remaining 6,314 beneficiaries are yet to do so.
Officials said the delay has largely been attributed to technical issues such as Aadhaar-bank account linkage problems, discrepancies in beneficiaries’ personal details and incomplete documentation. Complaints were also received against some Choice Centres for allegedly failing to assist beneficiaries properly or providing incorrect information. The district administration has directed all Choice Centres to carry out the e-KYC process free of cost.
Providing relief to the remaining beneficiaries, the State Government has extended the deadline for completing the e-KYC process to August 30. Earlier, beneficiaries were required to complete the formalities by June 30.
The department has advised all pending beneficiaries to visit their nearest Choice Centre with their Aadhaar card and beneficiary registration number issued through the Anganwadi Centre. Women whose bank accounts are not linked with Aadhaar have been asked to complete the Aadhaar seeding process at their respective bank branches before applying for e-KYC.
District Programme Officer Basant Kumar Minj said the extension has been granted to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is deprived of the scheme’s benefits. He urged all remaining beneficiaries to complete the process well before the revised deadline to avoid any disruption in receiving the monthly assistance.
