Raipur 13 March . In the 18th Youth Athletics Championship, held in Guwahati, Assam. Athlete Master Amit Kumar, who is receiving training at the Khelo India State Center of Excellence in Bahtarai, the state’s first sports academy, won the bronze medal. He qualified for the Indian contingent camp for the Youth Asia Championship in a 10 km walk, which will be held in Indonesia in July, by completing the qualifier benchmark before the deadline. Amit Kumar finished the 10-kilometer distance at 44:53.56. Amit Kumar is the first athlete from Chhattisgarh to qualify for the event.
Notably, this academy situated in the Bahtarai of Chhattisgarh is state’s first sports school that provides residential sports training in hockey, athletics, and archery. More than 100 women and men are being trained here. High-level and international-level trainers, as well as a team to run high-quality training, have been appointed here. Athletics training is being provided under the direction of Dronacharya Awardee coach J.S. Bhatia. High-Performance managers are always providing day-to-day attention to the high performance of sportspersons by monitoring their fitness, health, dietary information, and personal demands.
The Sports and Youth Welfare Department is continually fulfilling the needs of the trainees. Additional Chief Secretary, Sports Director, and Assistant Director of the Sports Youth Welfare Department, Bilaspur, and Center’s Performance Manager congratulated Amit for his achievement.
