Colorful cauliflower fetches higher prices compared to white cauliflower and broccoli

Durg 27 February . Colorful cauliflower and broccoli are being grown in the ‘Poshan Vatika’ at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Anjora of Durg district. Farmers are using new techniques under the state government’s schemes to produce colorful cauliflower and broccoli. Biofortified varieties of cauliflower and broccoli in yellow, pink, and green colors are being introduced as innovations for farmers in the district, which are prepared from natural farming methods.

Ideal temperature for growing colorful cauliflower and broccoli

Typically, cauliflower of white color is grown, but nowadays, farmers are producing colorful varieties of cauliflower and broccoli that are loaded with vitamins. These crops are cultivated in accordance with the prevailing climatic conditions of the district, and the suitable temperature range for their growth is between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius.

Price of colorful cauliflower doubles compared to white cauliflower

Colorful cauliflower is grown using cow dung manure, similar to the cultivation of white cauliflower. This variant of cauliflower can be sold at a price twice that of regular cauliflower and up to four times the price of broccoli.

In terms of nutrients, it contains calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and zinc. It also boosts immunity and is abundant in vitamins A and C. Broccoli is a variant of cauliflower that looks like green cauliflower, but it has a different taste. It is more delicious than white cauliflower and is rich in fiber. Additionally, it contains nutrients such as phytochemicals, polyphenols, quercetin, and glucosides, which help control diabetes. It also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that protect the body from various serious diseases.
