In last four years, the state government has established various sports academies and is providing quality training to the sportsperson of the state. The state government has set a new record of success in the development of sports infrastructure and sports activities. These academies are being established to enhance the sporting talent of the state’s sportsperson. During the COVID crisis, the preparations for the establishment of new sports academies and sports activities in the state were also going on consistently. When the new government was formed in the state under the able leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, the state government pledged to set its priorities for sports to provide all kinds of world-class training and world-class infrastructure to sportspersons of the state.

Chief Minister Mr Bhupesh Baghel announced to establish Archery Center Eklavya Sports Academy in Jashpur with a cost of Rs 91 lakh 98 thousand during his Jashpur stay. For the implementation of the above announcement, the district administration has started to operate this academy at the premises of Ranjita Stadium. Selected students of the Pahadi Korwa tribe will be trained here to enhance their sporting talent. Free training, accommodation, and education facilities are being provided to the selected children.

10 students each in archery, taekwondo, and swimming are being trained in the academy. Preference in the selection process has been given to the children belonging to the Pahadi Korwa group, a special backward tribe of hilly and remote areas. It is noteworthy that 30 students have been selected to be trained in the academies of archery, taekwondo, and swimming. To hone the talent of players, they will be provided with good infrastructure as well as deployment of experienced coaches has been made in these academies. An initiative is also being taken to train the Pahadi Korwa students through national-level renowned sports coaches for better performance in international and national level sports competitions like Olympics, Commonwealth, and National Games.


Industries supporting the development of Sports

After the formation of the state government under the able leadership of Chief Minister Mr.Bhupesh Baghel, consistent steps have been taken by the sports department for the establishment of sports academies, development of infrastructure and to provide better facilities to sports persons. Many sports academies are also being started in the state through the support of industry groups under the Chhattisgarh Sports Development Authority. Shooting Academy in Raipur will be operated by Jindal Industry Group, Malkhamb Academy in Narayanpur by BSP, Bilaspur Kabaddi Academy by Gopal Sponge & Power Pvt Ltd, and Phil Ispat Pvt Ltd. Academies of Football, Swimming, Basketball, and Volleyball in Korba will be operated with the support of BALCO. Education expenses, food, accommodation, sports kits, modern training, insurance, diet, etc facilities are provided free of cost in sports academies by the state government.
