KORBA, Feb 10 Largest power generation company of the country, National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) is going to set up two new units, of 800 megawatts each, in the state. The first unit is proposed at Sipat while the second at Korba.
Speaking on the subject, Chief General Manager of NTPC Korba, B Ramchandra Rao said that approval has been received for 800MW unit at Sipat and yet another 800MW unit is proposed at Korba. The unit is to be set up in the plant premises but the approval has been on hold because ash utilisation has not reached cent percent. He said that current status of ash utilisation is 60 to 70 percent. There are no cement industries near Korba and thie plays a factor in bringing down the graph of ash utilisation. At the same time, plant management is continuing efforts to ensure cent percent ash utilization.
Rao further said that they are working in the direction of green energy. NTPC Korba will set up 30MW solar power plant. As per the scheme of central government, 50 percent energy is to be produced by renewable resources. The target for the same is set to be year 2032. He said that several methods are adopted by NTPC at different levels to control pollution. He said that the plant is currently standing at number one position in the nation and the plant load factor is 91.4 percent. Also, CSR activities are going on at large level.
