As every household in the village had access to water, the villagers’ faces were beaming with joy.

Raipur, 08 January . The successful implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission has resulted in the provision of clean drinking water to all 47 households of the Pando tribe in Durgapur in the Korea district. The availability of safe drinking water has made the locals happy. Durgapur, a dependent village of Gram Panchayat Umjhar of development block Baikunthpur, is a Pando tribe-dominated village around 18 kilometers from Chhattisgarh’s Korea district capital. It was a difficult undertaking to ensure that each household in Durgapur village, which symbolizes the lifestyle of forest inhabitants, had access to safe drinking water. An action plan was created with the determination to offer pure drinking water to every family in Durgapur through the Jal Jeevan Mission. Believing this to be an ideal formula, the smiles on the villagers’ faces at the end of the project serve as proof that it was successful.

Meanwhile, Officials from the Public Health Engineering Department stated that the Jal Jeevan Mission is being better implemented in the district under the supervision of Collector Mr. Vinay Kumar Langeh.

Jal Jeevan Mission’s goal is to supply drinking water to all rural families through working household tap connections. By March 2024, good quality drinking water will be given to all rural residences in Chhattisgarh state continuously for an extended length of time via domestic tap connections at a rate of 55 liters per person per day under this project. Work is being done at a rapid speed to meet the aim of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the state, as instructed by Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel.

It should be emphasized that women are trained as ‘Jal Vahini’ under the Jal Jeevan Mission to raise awareness among the villages. Drinking water is tested under Jal Jeevan Mission, according to Jal Vahini Sushri Ramkumari Sarathi, information about water quality is received. According to the officials of the government, work is being done through Jal Jeevan Mission to deliver water through domestic taps to 47 designated houses in Khalpara and Ebalpara of Durgapur at a cost of Rs 35.78 lakh. The Jal Jeevan Mission Yojana provides a sufficient quantity of pure drinking water by making tap water reach every household; residents would no longer have to trek for clean drinking water.
