123 Dreams, One Mission: NTPC Korba Celebrates the Transformative Success of GEM 2026

Korba, June 16. NTPC Korba successfully concluded the seventh edition of its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2026, with a grand closing ceremony celebrating a month-long journey of learning, confidence-building, and holistic development for 123 young girls from nearby villages.

The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp by distinguished dignitaries, followed by the rendition of the NTPC Geet. An exhibition showcasing a diverse range of artifacts, creative projects, and learning outcomes prepared by the participants was also organized. The exhibition reflected the skills, creativity, and confidence developed by the girls during the residential programme.

Welcoming the gathering, Shri K.C. Patra, Business Unit Head, NTPC Korba, highlighted the remarkable growth of the Girl Empowerment Mission over the years and emphasized its transformative impact on young girls from surrounding communities. Addressing the participants, he noted that while the girls had arrived as learners, they were leaving as ambassadors of confidence, learning, and hope. He encouraged them to continue believing in their dreams and to become role models who inspire positive change in their schools, families, and communities.

A special highlight of the event was the screening of the GEM 2026 documentary film, which captured memorable moments, activities, learning experiences, and inspiring personal transformations witnessed throughout the month-long programme. The audience was deeply moved when two GEM participants shared their experiences, explaining how the initiative had enhanced their self-confidence, communication skills, and aspirations for the future.

The cultural segment showcased the immense talent and enthusiasm of the participants through a series of captivating performances. The programme began with Ganesh and Saraswati Vandana, followed by a self-defence demonstration, yoga presentation, and an impressive UV performance. A thematic presentation titled “Pride of India” highlighted the nation’s rich heritage and identity through depictions of the lotus (national flower), peacock (national bird), hockey (representing India’s sporting legacy), banyan tree (national tree symbolizing life and sustainability), and tiger (national animal).

The performances received enthusiastic appreciation from the audience, reflecting the confidence, teamwork, and creativity nurtured among the participants during the programme.

Speaking on the significance of girls’ empowerment, Shri Patra reiterated that every empowered girl becomes a source of strength for her family, an inspiration for her community, and a valuable contributor to the nation’s progress. He emphasized that empowering girls is one of the most effective ways to build a stronger society and a brighter future.

The successful completion of GEM 2026 once again reaffirmed NTPC Korba’s unwavering commitment to empowering young girls, fostering leadership qualities, and contributing to inclusive community development. Through initiatives such as GEM, NTPC Korba continues to create meaningful opportunities for girls to realize their potential and emerge as confident, responsible, and empowered citizens of the future.

As the curtains came down on another successful edition of the programme, the occasion marked not merely the conclusion of a month-long initiative, but the beginning of 123 new journeys filled with aspirations, opportunities, and achievements. Reaffirming the spirit of the mission, the event concluded with a powerful message that resonated throughout the gathering: “When a girl is empowered, a family progresses, a community prospers, and a nation grows stronger.”
