Chief Minister Attends Annual Convention of Kanwar Community
Raipur, December 2, 2025/
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday attended the annual convention of the All India Kanwar Community as the chief guest, held at Boirdadar in Raigarh. Responding to the community’s long-standing demand, he inaugurated the first floor of a community building constructed at a cost of Rs 30 lakh. Senior members of the community extended a grand welcome to the Chief Minister with traditional rituals.
Paying tribute to the pioneers of the Kanwar community, the Chief Minister said that the progress of any society is possible only through education. He emphasised that education is not merely a route to employment but also a means to achieving success across diverse fields. Educating every son and daughter, he said, is the true strength of society. The Chief Minister reiterated that the Chhattisgarh government is committed to the uplift and welfare of tribal communities, and noted that various schemes implemented by the government are benefiting people across tribal regions. He also urged citizens to make maximum use of these welfare programmes.

Remembering the contribution of tribal communities to India’s freedom struggle, Shri Sai said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has elevated the honour of tribal communities by declaring November 15—Bhagwan Birsa Munda Jayanti—as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas. He highlighted that to bring tribal communities into the mainstream, the Prime Minister has launched the Dharti Aaba Gram Utkarsh and PM Janman programmes, calling them the biggest tribal welfare campaign since Independence. Through these initiatives, he said, essential facilities are being provided to tribal families, accelerating development in tribal regions.
The Chief Minister noted that during Chhattisgarh’s Silver Jubilee celebrations, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Tribal Freedom Fighter Memorial-cum-Museum in Raipur. The museum showcases the contributions of Chhattisgarh’s freedom fighters in a vivid, engaging manner—introducing future generations to the valour and sacrifice of these heroes. This, he added, is a matter of pride for the state’s tribal communities.
Marking 25 years of Chhattisgarh’s statehood, Shri Sai paid tribute to former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna, late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, acknowledging the significant expansion of development—including PDS reforms, road connectivity, electricity, drinking water, education and healthcare—since the state’s formation. He said that developmental outreach has now reached every village. While Naxalism has long impeded development, government efforts have reduced it substantially, and it is now “breathing its last.” He added that the Central Government has set the target of eliminating Naxalism by 31 March 2026.
Speaking about the state’s new industrial policy, the Chief Minister said that investment proposals worth over Rs 8 lakh crore have been received. The government, is working to link youth with employment and self-employment opportunities through industry, while simultaneously running various schemes to empower all communities across the state.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister made several important announcements, including the construction of an additional cultural building for the Kanwar community at Boirdadar, Raigarh, a CC road connecting the community premises to the main road, a new community hall at Turtura in Lailunga, and the expansion of existing community buildings in Lailunga and Gharghoda.
The event was attended by the Chief Minister’s wife, Smt. Kausalya Sai, Lok Sabha MP Shri Radheshyam Rathiya, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Devendra Pratap Singh, Mayor Shri Jivardhan Chauhan, District Panchayat Vice President Shri Deepak Sidar, Shri Bharat Sai, Shri Satyanand Rathiya, Shri Anant Ram Paikara, and other distinguished guests.
