Korba: The sub-health centre in Nakia village, located 70-80 km from Korba district, is struggling to provide adequate healthcare services to pregnant women due to the absence of a permanent electricity supply. This health centre is the only medical facility catering to the needs of Nakia, Vimalta, Pendraadih, and Rafta villages, which are 7-10 km away.
The village’s reliance on solar-powered batteries, which have limited capacity, exacerbates the problem. The sub-health centre urgently requires a permanent solar energy system to provide uninterrupted healthcare services to patients and pregnant women, especially during nighttime.
According to RMO Kanti Ekka, who has been posted at the sub-health centre since 2021, she has successfully delivered 95 babies, including 17 since April. However, she highlighted the difficulties faced during nighttime deliveries due to the lack of electricity and the limited capacity of the solar-powered batteries.
Needs of the Sub-Health Centre:
- Permanent solar energy system
- Electricity supply
- Uninterrupted healthcare services for pregnant women
- Improvement in the condition of the only medical facility catering to the surrounding villages
This issue highlights the inadequacy of healthcare facilities in rural areas and necessitates government attention. Installing a permanent solar energy system at the sub-health centre can ensure uninterrupted healthcare services for pregnant women and patients.
