Zealous Celebration of Dussehra in Ward No. 16, Charpara Kohadiya

Thousands Participated in Devi Jagran until Late Night

Raipur, 18th October 2024/ A grand celebration of the Dussehra festival and Devi Jagran took place last Thursday night in Ward No. 16, Charpara Kohadiya, located in the Korba Municipal Corporation area, drawing thousands of participants. The event, held in the courtyard of the Shiv Temple, witnessed the presence of the Chief Guest, MLA from Korba and Minister for Commerce, Industry, and Labour, Shri Lakhan Lal Devangan. Extending his greetings and best wishes to all attendees on the occasion of Vijayadashami, Shri Devangan emphasized that Dussehra is not only the celebration of Lord Shri Ram’s victory over the demon king Ravana but also conveys the broader message of the triumph of good over evil. He urged everyone to draw inspiration from the festival and adopt the path of unity, peace, and development in society. He added that Dussehra has been celebrated with great fervor for many years, representing the rich cultural heritage.

Cabinet Minister Shri Devangan remarked that this festival teaches present and future generations the value of overcoming adversity, just as Lord Shri Ram triumphed over evil through relentless struggle. He encouraged following the path of truth to conquer life’s obstacles. Shri Devangan highlighted that the Dussehra festival, year after year, has been made more magnificent with the collective efforts of the villagers, symbolizing unity in the ward. He further stated that the invaluable heritage of this Dussehra celebration, initiated by our ancestors, has been preserved by the community with great care.

Ward Councillor Shri Narendra Devangan shared that the festival was started 24 years ago to foster unity among the people in Kohadiya. The tradition continues today, following the path laid out by the late senior citizens. He also informed that construction work for pavement blocks along the roads, drainage, roads, and a community hall has commenced in the ward. Following the stage program, a tableau of Lord Shri Ram was worshipped and sent off to the Dussehra ground by Shri Devangan and other dignitaries. From there, thousands of people, led by the traditional Karma dance, proceeded to the Dussehra ground, where the 80-feet tall effigy of Ravana was set ablaze amidst chants of “Jai Jai Shri Ram.” After the effigy burning, a grand Devi Jagran program took place, drawing thousands of devotees. Renowned singer Shri Devesh Sharma performed devotional songs dedicated to the Goddess late into the night.

The event was graced by the presence of several distinguished guests, including District President Dr. Rajeev Singh, former President of the Cooperative Bank Devendra Pandey, Ashok Chawalani, District Vice President Prafull Tiwari, Narendra Patanwar, Uma Bharti Saraf, Rukmani Nair, President of Agarwal Sabha Korba Rajendra Agarwal, and many other prominent citizens.
