83rd session of Indian Road Congress is set to take place in Raipur

Five-day event, participants from India and abroad will get to know Chhattisgarh’s splendor, culture and development.

Departmental Instructions were given to ensure active participation of departmental engineers by connecting them with new research and new technologies

Raipur, 16 October 2024. The 83rd Annual Session of the Indian Road Congress will be held in the capital Raipur from 7 November to 11 November.

Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Shri Arun Sao reviewed the preparations for this event to be held at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium and Science College Campus in Raipur.

The meeting was attended by departmental Secretary Dr Kamalpreet Singh, Chief Engineer Shri KK Pipri, Regional Officer of National Highways Authority of India, Regional Officer of Road Transport Ministry, Commissioner of Raipur Municipal Corporation Shri Abinash Mishra and all the steering committee members related to the convention and gave necessary instructions.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao, in a review meeting held at Naveen Vishram Bhavan in Raipur, asked the officials to ensure solid preparations for the event, so that the guests from the country and abroad participating in it can get acquainted with the splendor of Chhattisgarh. Also, they can experience the culture of Chhattisgarh and the various dimensions of development here. He asked to ensure the hospitality of the guests in the convention in accordance with the culture of Chhattisgarh.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sao directed to set up stalls and exhibitions of leading institutions of power and infrastructure NMDC, NTPC, SAIL (Bhilai Steel Plant), Chhattisgarh Power Generation Company and various development corporations at the convention venue to showcase the multidimensional development of the state. He also asked to make proper arrangements of stalls of Chhattisgarh Handicrafts, Village Industries, Tourism, Sanjeevani, Forest Development etc. at the venue to make the guests aware of the art, craft and folk culture of Chhattisgarh.

To encourage young engineers, Shri Sao directed to organize various competitions during the convention and to provide student membership to meritorious students of engineering colleges of the state. He asked the engineers of the Public Works Department to actively connect with the event for detailed discussion and training of new technologies being adopted in other states in new research and construction works. He directed to ensure wide publicity of this 83rd annual convention of Indian Road Congress being organized in Raipur at the state level, so that the engineers of the state get the opportunity to gain knowledge through the lectures of scientists of the country’s leading institutions.
