Preeti turns her dreams into reality by earning additional income
Raipur, 09 October 2024/ The Tussar Yarn Production Scheme of the Directorate of Gramodyog is playing a pivotal role in realizing the vision of women empowerment. In Jashpur district, Ms. Preeti Chauhan and several women like her are becoming self-reliant by availing the benefits this scheme. Under the guidance of the District Collector, Preeti received training in Tussar yarn production and is now earning a substantial income by making it her livelihood. Coming from an economically disadvantaged family, Preeti is now contributing financially to her household and utilizing her savings to support agricultural activities. So far, she has accumulated more than Rs 1.02 lakh in her account, significantly improving her standard of living.
In line with the vision of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, women in Jashpur district are being strengthened economically through yarn production training. The objective of this initiative is to economically empower women and provide them with self-employment opportunities, enabling them to secure employment within their village itself without having to migrate to other states for livelihood. Many other women associated with Tussar yarn production are also overcoming poverty and becoming self-sufficient. This scheme not only offers them a means of livelihood through yarn production but also allows them to cultivate high-quality paddy and other crops on their agricultural land. Several women, who once dreamt of owning a bicycle, are now purchasing two-wheelers with the income earned from this scheme and are ensuring better education for their children.
The Sericulture Department provides women with the necessary kosa (silk cocoons) through the Cocoon Bank, and the yarn they produce is marketed, with the earnings directly deposited into their bank accounts. Thus, the Tussar Yarn Production Scheme is proving to be a significant step towards women empowerment, bringing positive transformations in their lives and establishing a distinct identity for them in society. Through this effort towards women empowerment, these women are not only becoming self-reliant but are also making substantial contributions towards strengthening their families and the community economically.
