Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai lays Foundation for Various Development Projects Worth Rs 23 Crores in Durg City

Raipur, 27 September 2024/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today laid foundation for various development projects worth Rs 22.97 crores in a ceremony held at Ward No. 03 of Durg city. The event was graced by the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao, Member of Parliament Shri Vijay Baghel, MLAs Shri Gajendra Yadav and Shri Rikesh Sen, Mayor of Durg Shri Dheeraj Bakliwal, along with numerous other public representatives and distinguished citizens.

During the ceremony, Chief Minister Shri Sai initiated the groundwork for a diverse set of development projects aimed at enhancing the city’s infrastructure and civic facilities. Among the projects, a significant highlight was the development of a sports ground in Urla at an estimated cost of Rs 1.98 crores. Additionally, Rs 88.47 lakhs have been sanctioned for road safety development works at Rajendra Park Chowk, which shows the administration’s focus on improving traffic management and safety.

Another major undertaking is a tree plantation initiative at various locations, budgeted at Rs 1.66 crores, emphasizing the government’s commitment towards environmental sustainability. Furthermore, with an investment of Rs 1.35 crores, road tarring works at eight different sites and the installation of paver blocks at another site in multiple wards are planned to enhance connectivity and road infrastructure. The construction of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Sarva Samaj Mangal Bhavan near the Gaya Nagar 33 kV power station worth Rs 1.99 crores, aims to provide a dedicated community space catering to various social and cultural activities.

Another noteworthy initiative is the construction of a cultural building behind the Satnam Bhavan Ayurvedic Hospital in Ward No. 15, with a project cost of Rs 49.98 lakhs, which is expected to serve as a hub for local arts and culture. Moreover, a comprehensive set of 59 developmental works, including road, drain, and culvert construction in various wards across the city, will be undertaken with a financial outlay of Rs 8.33 crores, significantly boosting the overall infrastructure of the city. The foundation for crucial water supply projects (Part A & B) in Ward No. 32, Shikshak Nagar, amounting to Rs 2.72 crores, was also laid, which will address long-standing water supply issues in the area.

As part of efforts to promote cultural heritage, a statue of Lord Birsa Munda will be installed at Rajendra Park Chowk at an estimated cost of Rs 25 lakhs, honouring the contributions of tribal leaders. An additional hall will be constructed on the first floor of Gondwana Bhavan, with a budget allocation of Rs 50 lakhs, providing more space for community functions and events. Further, various developmental works under the MLA fund, valued at Rs 2.14 crores, have been approved to cater to local demands, while Rs 65 lakhs have been allocated from In-charge Minister’s fund to address specific needs in the region.

Chief Minister Shri Sai, in his address, highlighted that these projects are pivotal in transforming Durg into a model city with robust infrastructure and efficient civic amenities. He assured the citizens of Durg that the projects would be executed with the highest standards of quality and within stipulated timelines.
