Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal Inspects Multi-Specialty Hospital in Bilaspur

Gives instructions to ensure completion of all the works before 31st October

State-of-the-art 10-storey hospital being built at a cost of Rs 200 crore with joint funding from Centre and State

Raipur, 23 September 2024/ The Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education, Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, inspected the construction site of the Multi-Specialty Hospital building in Koni, Bilaspur today. This under-construction hospital building is an extension of the SIMS facility. He directed the officials concerned to ensure completion of all the construction, procurement, and recruitment tasks by 31st October 2024, so that the hospital can be inaugurated during the State Foundation Week. Shri Jaiswal thoroughly reviewed the hospital building and the facilities that have been made available so far.

It is noteworthy that this hospital is being constructed with joint financial aid from the Central and State governments at a cost of approximately Rs 200 crore. The hospital will provide 240 beds for the treatment of patients suffering from six critical illnesses. The new Multi-Specialty Hospital spans 10 storeys, including the ground floor. The Minister inspected the facilities and equipment on each floor. The extended hospital building of SIMS will house six specialist departments—Nephrology, Urology, Cardiology, CTVS (Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery), Neurology, and Neurosurgery. The construction of the building is being undertaken by the Central Public Works Department, while the procurement of equipment is being managed by the Central government agency, Heights.

Shri Jaiswal instructed that fire and lift audits be conducted before the hospital becomes operational. The ground floor of the Multi-Specialty Hospital will accommodate radiology and casualty services. The first and second floors will host OPD services, the third floor will house the administrative building, the fourth floor will feature the operation theatre and cath lab, while the fifth floor will handle various services. The medical wards will be located from the sixth to the tenth floor. He also directed that trial operations of the hospital begin to identify and address any shortcomings in time. Shri Jaiswal further reviewed the construction progress of the nearby Cancer Institute building and directed that it be completed by March. He also informed that a new SIMS building will be constructed within the same complex, for which the State government has approved Rs 700 crore.

On this occasion, MLA Shri Sushant Shukla, Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department Shri Manoj Kumar Pingua, Commissioner of Medical Education Mrs. Kiran Kaushal, Director of Health Shri Rituraj Raghuvanshi, MD CGMSC Mrs. Padmini Bhoi, MD NHM Shri Jagdish Sonkar, Joint Secretary Shri Abhijit Singh, and other public representatives were also present.
