Chief Minister Enforces Zero Tolerance on Corruption, Suspends General Manager of Textbook Corporation

Raipur, 20 September 2024/ Chhattisgarh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, is adhering to a zero-tolerance policy on corruption. During the recent held Collectors’ Conference, Chief Minister Shri Sai had issued strict instructions to officials emphasizing zero tolerance towards corruption. His firm stance on this issue is being rigorously enforced on the ground. Recently, an incident came to light where new textbooks printed for the 2024-25 academic session by the Chhattisgarh Textbook Corporation were sold as scrap.

Upon receiving complaint regarding the sale of new textbooks to a scrap dealer at Real Board Paper Mill in Silyari, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai took immediate and serious note of the situation. He directed Additional Chief Secretary, Mrs. Renu Pillai, to conduct a thorough investigation of the incident. Findings of the preliminary investigation indicated the negligence of the General Manager of Chhattisgarh Textbook Corporation, Mr. Prem Prakash Sharma, an officer of the State Administrative Service. Consequently, Mr. Sharma has been suspended with immediate effect under Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Classification, Control, and Appeal) Rules, 1966.

After showcasing a firm stance during the Collectors’ and SPs’ Conference, Chief Minister’s decision to suspend the official reinforces that he will not tolerate administrative negligence under any circumstances.

Chief Minister’s decision to assign the investigation of this textbook disposal incident to the most senior officer after the Chief Secretary, signifies that the era of administrative leniency in the state is over. Any act of negligence or corruption will undoubtedly be met with strict action.

It is noteworthy that recently, Chief Minister Sai’s stern approach has been evident in several administrative decisions. He remains uncompromising on critical issues such as education and health. Chief Minister has directed stringent action against officers and employees who display indifference towards their official responsibilities. He affirmed that this government is committed to good governance and maintains zero tolerance towards corruption. Negligence by any officer or employee in the execution of their official duties will not be tolerated, and immediate stringent action will be taken in such cases.
