M.G.M HR. SEC. SCHOOL, BALCO CELEBRATES ONAM WITH TRADITIONAL FLAIR

Korba, September 15, 2024: M.G.M HR. SEC. SCHOOL, BALCO witnessed a vibrant celebration of Onam, the harvest festival of Kerala, on Friday. The staff and students of the pre-primary section came together to mark the occasion with traditional fervor.

The students brightened up the campus with their colorful ethnic wear, donning traditional Kerala attire. The festival of Onam is dedicated to King Mahabali, who sacrificed himself and his kingdom to stand true to his words.

The day’s celebrations included a mesmerizing dance performance by the students to the tunes of a Malayalam song. Two students were dressed as King Mahabali and the Brahmin, representing the mythological story behind the festival.

In a collaborative activity, the students brought petals of different colored flowers from home and created a stunning flower Rangoli, known as ‘Pookalam’. The day concluded with a traditional Onam feast, known as ‘sadya’, which was enjoyed by all.

The celebration was a testament to the school’s commitment to promoting cultural diversity and traditions.
