Nagar Panchayat includes three villages – Devbhog Gram Panchayat, Jharabahal and Sonamundi
Long awaited demand of residents of the area fulfilled
Raipur, 12 September 2024. The Chhattisgarh government on Thursday issued an official notification regarding the formation of Devbhog as a Nagar Panchayat in Gariaband district.
The Urban Administration and Development Department has published a notification in this regard in the Chhattisgarh Gazette. In accordance with the notification published in the gazette, Gram Panchayat Devbhog, Village Jharabahal and Village Sonamundi have been included in Devbhog Nagar Panchayat. According to the census of the year 2011, the combined population of these three villages is 5287.
The borders of Gram Panchayat Devbhog will share boundaries of village Jharabahal dependent on Gram Panchayat Dohel and village Sonamundi, which is dependent on Gram Panchayat Mungjhar will share common boundaries of Nagar Panchayat Devbhog.
It is noteworthy that the residents of the area were demanding for a long time to obtain the status of Nagar Panchayat to Devbhog. Hence, keeping in view the public aspirations, Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Arun Sao had directed the department to take immediate action in this regard. With the formation of Devbhog Nagar Panchayat, the long-awaited demand of the people of the area has been fulfilled, said officials.
