While times change, Chhattisgarh proudly maintains its traditions. Even in the era of modern amusements, the people of Chhattisgarh remember the tradition of ‘Rahchuli Jhula’, which connects them to their rural roots and ancestors. On this auspicious occasion, guests will enjoy the Rahchuli and Gedi at the Chief Minister’s residence. Before the advent of concrete roads, when rural paths turned muddy during monsoons, Gedi was the safest means to cross the muck. Using Gedi during Hareli Tihar also symbolises the enthusiasm for the rainy season.
On the occasion of Hareli, both bulls and bullock carts are beautifully decorated. This major festival is dedicated to honouring and worshipping livestock, paying homage to Mother Earth amidst agricultural preparations. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai will perform traditional pooja on Hareli with his family. Rural games like ‘Gedi Daud’, bullock carts, Pitthul, and Bhora are also an important part of Hareli Tihar. The charm of traditional Chhattisgarh’s games reaches its peak on this day, with people participating and competing in various games. Full preparations have been made at the Chief Minister’s residence, where games like Pitthul and Bhaura will be the main attractions. Folk Chhattisgarh dances like Raut Nacha and Karma will be performed, and various folk songs will also be presented.
Hareli Tihar is celebrated throughout Chhattisgarh with unique beauty and distinctive customs. Each region of the state showcases its cultural elegance, and these performances will also be presented at the Chief Minister’s residence. Hareli Tihar is a celebration of gratitude towards nature. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has called upon the people of the country to plant a tree in honour of their mother’s name.
